“Falling Awake” is the first release from Mega Films, Spanish Broadcasting System’s production company. Known for owning Mega TV and the number 1 Latin radio stations in NY, LA and Miami, SBS is now expanding into film. Jose Cuervo Tequila joined HOMBRE to host the film’s premiere and afterparty. 
At the IFC Center gala event Jose Cuervo presented the film’s stars and director with specialty created boxed gifts of the premium Jose Cuervo Platino. In attendance were the film’s stars and director along with other celebrities, Cuervo executives and HOMBRE advertisers.
Directed by Agustin, “Falling Awake” stars Jenna Dewan (from ‘Step Up’) and newcomer Andy Cisneros. The film tells the powerful story of Jay (Cisneros), a young Latino musician in the Bronx who struggles to find his identity in a home crowded with family members and a neighborhood of dangerous enemies. After he meets the beautiful Manhattanite Alessandra (Dewan), his determination to reach toward a wider world and realize his musical dreams becomes even stronger.
However the loyalty to his friends and to his ex-Marine brother, and the expectations of his frustrated, angry father limit his possibilities. As Jay fights to break free of the cycles of anger and violence that grip his life and his neighborhood, he learns that only love can help him grasp his elusive chance at happiness, and comes to a new understanding that helps him take the long, uncertain leap into his future.
The Mega Films/ IFC Films production is now playing in selected cities and also available on the movies on demand platform on Time Warner Cable (Ch. 1000), Comcast (Ch.1), Cablevision, Cox and Bright House.
Agustin, the film’s director and screenwriter heads Spanish Broadcasting Systems’ Mega Films. The young filmmaker is a new voice in the world of entertainment, having previously directed the successful feature “El Vacilón The Movie,” later released on DVD by Lions Gate Films.
Falling Awake also stars Flaco Navaja, Nestor Serrano, Michael Rivera, Gerald Bunsen, Pablo Gonzalez, Ramon Fernandez, Cuban Link.
